In my words
Teaching made familiar motions new again. To explain a relaxed hand or steadier bow, I had to see the violin through someone else’s eyes—and become a more attentive musician myself.
What I did
- Coached elementary-age musicians during string-ensemble rehearsals, helping them listen across the group as well as play their own parts.
- Worked one to one with students on specific violin techniques, adapting explanations to the way each student learned.
- Supported the ensemble at the 5th China–Belarus “Silk Road” International Youth Art Competition, where I received a “Best Mentor” certificate.
